Rad Recipes: Homemade Granola Bars

Here’s a tasty little granola bar that you can make at home.  Your kitchen will smell amazing!

Prep: 15 minutes  Bake: 12-15 minutes  Ready to eat in 1hr 30 minutes 

24 servings, approx 150 calories per serving

Ingredients:

(optional)

1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts, such as peanuts, almonds, or cashews (optional)

3/4 cup + 3 tablespoons applesauce

2/3 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup honey

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon sea salt

3 1/3 cups old-fashioned oats

2/3 cup unbleached all purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8×11-inch baking dish.
  2. Stir applesauce, chocolate-hazelnut spread, brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sea salt and any of the optional add-ins together in a medium bowl.
  3. Combine oats and flour together in a resealable plastic bag, and shake well until mixed. Stir oat mixture into chocolate-hazelnut mixture; spread granola into prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until lightly brown, 12-15 minutes. Cool completely (about 1 hour) before cutting into bars.
